Our skilled workshop team specialise in the creation of bespoke prototypes using our state-of-the-art machinery and software including 3D scanners, printers, 3, 5 & 7-axis CNC and laser cutters, accompanied by traditional model-making skills.

These early-design prototype pieces give our clients a chance to see a realised product swiftly so they can identify design improvements and iterate again with a short turnaround. This way, we make sure our client is completely satisfied with the creative direction before making significant investments.

Our carpentry and metal shops are staffed by some of the best craftspeople in our industry offering one of the most flexible and productive fabrication facilities available.

Encompassing a wide variety of crafts and skills, they use their expert knowledge to shape and fuse a broad range of materials from steel and aluminium to wood, high-pressure laminates or even glass. Our team are not just carpenters, joiners, or fabricators but artists. Working closely with our technical designers and project managers to solve complex build challenges delivering stunning results to our clients.

Our workshop is equipped with advanced CNC machinery, including 3-axis, 5-axis, and 7-axis machines. These tools allow us to craft almost any material into any shape, from simple sheet materials to complex geometric objects. Our 7-axis Kuka robot enables the highest level of intricacy and efficiency, producing detailed and accurate components with a short turnaround time. CNC machining is essential for creating props, prototypes, and industrial models.

Our talented sculpture team excels in creating complex and highly accurate busts of famous characters and creatures for theatre and display. We combine CNC machining, 3D printing, moulding, casting, and traditional clay sculpting to achieve a world-class finish. These models are painted by our scenic painting team to achieve incredibly lifelike results.

Our workshop team are experts in creating complex moulds for intricate GRP components. We use a variety of techniques, including traditional methods and modern casting techniques like rotacasting. This fast, low-labour-intensity process allows us to save on costs and production time, providing high-quality, repeatable, lightweight, and hollow 3D castings.

Our skilled technicians apply a variety of coatings and composites to finish large and small-scale elements with speed and precision including Pure Polyurea, Polyurethane, hybrid polyurethane / polyurea mix, resins such as polyester and epoxy systems, and an eco-friendly water-based system called Jesmonite. The team also specialise in GRP and Carbon Fibre fabrication to create cost-effective, lightweight, strong, corrosion and temperature-resistant structures.

Our skilled scenic finishers can achieve virtually any finish desired, using a wide range of painting and crafting techniques. Their expertise in various media allows us to offer limitless opportunities for our projects, ensuring a high-quality and visually appealing outcome.

At Scruffy Dog Creative Group, we work with our trusted partners to integrate the latest electronic engineering technology and bring amazing models to life. We design and develop our models in-house, simultaneously using an array of technologies including, electronic, robotic systems, mechatronics, servo-controlled systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems to embody movement in our creatures or displays. We utilise commercially available control systems, or if required, custom control software.
