Dark ride attractions are often among the most popular at a theme park. Aiming to immerse guests in rich, imaginative worlds, dark rides regularly feature media, lighting and special effects to offer compelling experiences. Narrative is often central to the design here and plays an integral role in providing a journey that unfolds across the ride experience. WICKERMAN – ALTON TOWERS, UK
WICKERMAN – ALTON TOWERS, UK

The award-winning Wicker Man attraction is located at Alton Towers Resort, UK and was the first wooden roller coaster in the country for over 20 years. We were approached by the team at Alton Towers to bring our attraction design expertise to this project.

Scruffy Dog Creative Group delivered the initial concept, concept development, schematic & detail design, and on-site supervision for this now-renowned attraction.

Scruffy Dog Creative Group were commissioned by Chessington World of Adventures for the ride design and delivery of their immersive and IP-driven water dark ride based on the popular Gruffalo stories.

Our scope included adapting the narrative into a feasible and entertaining ride format before progressing into concept design, schematic & detailed development, and creative delivery supervision.

Scruffy Dog Creative Group was approached by Heide Park, one of Germany’s biggest theme parks, to provide a turnkey dark ride design and build service for their brand new interactive 5D dark ride based on the globally renowned IP, Ghostbusters.

Our scope included initial concept and development, schematic & detail design, production design, animatronic design & delivery, and specialist fabrication & delivery for the theming of the attraction along with on-site delivery supervision.
